Blower Motor?

145K, H3 Alpha 09

AC/Heat has no blowing (none of the settings 1, 2, 3 or 4 lead to significant air output). Driving down highway, faster I go, more cold air comes out. Suspect compressor is thus still working and blower is issue. Hear a slight whining sound upon acceleration. Voltage reads little to no power reaching blower motor harness (resistor removed per repair manual).

Blower motor resistor replaced under recall at 90K or so. Thoughts on if blower motor replacement is the right place to start (vs HVAC control module or blower resistor)? All fuses tested working. Anything in particular to know about replacement beyond the manual?

Thanks! (Not been my month on my rig....)

No variance in speed = resistor. If you can hear the variance in speed from the blower motor, reply.

Simple things first.
Put 12v power to the blower and see if it spins. If not, it the blower. If so it's somewhere else.
I would also check the blower motor resistor that you had replaced under recall. But that would make too much sense.

no dice on the resistor. replaced again today (apparently the local shops carry)... on to the motor it seems...will keep you both posted...

Did you back probe the connector to verify 12v on the orange wire?

Not yet, have the harnesses down and disconnects. Look clean. Meanwhile ordering a motor from Autozone to have ready to test.

Struggling to reach the last screw holding the motor in (upper right). Any insight? Thinking I may just need to take out more trim from the dash.

EDIT: Motor out and ITS ALIVE! Must’ve been some debris...any experience now that I’m half done on if a aftermarket one is better (in hot hot hot weather)

EDIT 2: Looks like it was the motor insulation/sealing tape or foam that came loose and got between the blades...all is well w/air blowing strong now

I would personally stick with the OEM unit myself.
Clear any debris (vacuum) in the air chamber and the blower fan.
Button it back up and call it a day.

And so the plot thickens...blower went out AGAIN today. But not before I noticed that when I turned the temp dial even one click beyond max cold, I received max heat by surprise....

So ? is it the blower motor that is out and bad or the HVAC control module (or both?)

I have read the old forums about needing an inline resistor in the HVAC control, any thoughts??

My hvac control module and blower motor, still oe. I did notice driving home today @85° with the windows and sunroof open, my a/c was still pumping cold air.
