With so many manufactures out there you have a lot of fuel doors to choose from. The two questions you have to be most concerned with are:
A) What style do you like?
B) What exactly are you buying?
I can not tell you which style to like but I can offer information on our uniquely designed fuel doors. I know they are by far the most expensive on the market but you are paying for workmanship and engineering that no one else can compete with... Well almost no one, the GM factory fuel door is actually one of the best engineered fuel doors available - but it does not lock! The patented hinge technology is amazing, Amp-Research actually developed the hinge assembly for Mitsubishi Eclipse years ago.
SMA was the first company to introduce them to the Hummer market. GM liked the design enough to make it an OEM Accessory and now the latest is that they will be on 100% of the vehicles delivered in 2008.
There is still a market for the locking fuel door of course so ZMAG will continue producing these. Our design makes it possible to use with or without the key. You can leave it unlocked and just use the push button latch which secures it. The ZMAG Fuel Door comes with special DELRIN gaskets that help secure the fuel door to the fuel spout. We also contour the Fuel Door ring to the body of the vehicle which few companies do. Make sure that the Fuel Door Assembly bolts onto the vehicle and does not ‘Stick – On!’ What’s the point of having a locking fuel door that some one can just pry off?
Please feel free to ask any questions that I have not yet addressed. For those of you who do not like chrome fuel doors we have some options. Since all of our products are manufactured in the United States… right here in Phoenix, AZ, you can ask your vendor about custom finishes. We stock black powder coat and chrome, but if you have a specific finish that you want we can do it. Same with all of our other accessories – black chrome, satin, pretty much any finish you can think of. Sadly we do not retail but I can help you locate sources for ZMAG Billet Accessories and give your ETA’s on product deliveries. I have established this account to become more active in helping people find quality products and also get a better feel for what people want. For many of you who do not know about ZMAG, we are an Arizona based company that has been manufacturing accessories for Hummer since 2003. All of our products come with a GM matching warranty on workmanship and finishes. In January of 2007 ZMAG was purchased by Innovative Automotive Group – www.iag-corp.com IAG is comprised of many people with significant experience in manufacturing, design, engineering and the automotive industry. All of our original staff is still here to bring you quality products and as we grow you will see many new products lines coming out for Premium vehicles. Hummer is our main focus but always check back to see what other great products we will offer.

Locking fuel door was the first extra for me. Install was a breeze. AlsoI have that Steelcraft rear bumper guard. Its a handy item for extra stepping area on the bumper when Im loading the top rack and has saved my rear bumper at work a couple of times.( alot of people are still asleep when they park in the morning )Very well made and strong. Wasnt sure I would like it when I got it, but its still on there and holding up well. Always figured I could use it as a boat anchor if I didnt like it.

Which locking door did you put on? and I have always liked the 3 without the spare haging off the back, what did you do with yours? Do you put it in the back or just take your chances and hope for no flat tires? Also did you just pull the tire mount off and leave the existing holes?

That's the one that I have (no logo), installed by Lund Hummer here in Phx. I like this door a lot, very heavy and solid. I like the pushbutton feature as on a road trip I don't lock it until I'm stopped for the night as I know I'll be filling up again in about 300 miles. Excellent chrome finish.

StarsnBars - That is indeed a good-looking H3. Thanks for the link on the roof rack, I can't believe it's only $149. Is it a secure fit to your OEM roof racks? How much does it weigh? I'm really interested in that piece.

Also, what did you do with your spare? The H3 looks good without it on the back, but if I'm out in the boonies I'd be a bit more worried without one.
