Default Air in or exhaust out?

Planning on doing both an intake and exhaust mod, but one at a time. Should I start with a cat back system or at the other end with a K&N or similar intake?

Also, looking for input on a reasonably priced exhaust system that will give a bit of performance and a good sound. Nothing ricey, throaty is what I'm looking for...

Thanks everyone!

Start with removing those nerf steps.
Then do an intake: cold air intake systems

If you want budget priced have a reputable muffler shop do a custom exhaust, the kits are over priced IMHO. And intakes its airdocintakes.com or bust!
