Default 4x4 Not locking In

I just resent my noticed that my 2008 H3’s 4x4 will not lock into Hi or Low. The only issue outside of this occurring is I have a right rear ABS Speed sensor failure P0050.

would this sensor cause the 4x4 not to engage?

Yes a ABS wheel speed sensor should be replaced.

so it stays in neutral all the time? what exactly does "not lock in Hi and Low" mean does it run at all? bad shift fork in the transfer case?

Have ABS coming to replace over weekend.

2008 H3 3.7 - 162000
I’m driving now only in normal AWD. When selecting from AWD to 4H or 4L, it just flashes then after a while stops trying. AWD lite stays on all this time.

It was working fine a few days before when I had to use 4H & 4L being in the yard pulling a trailer. Drove it about 200 miles with no light or issues. Did not try to place it in 4H or L until after the ABS failed and got a warning.

Do you have a sunroof? If so, has your passenger side floor ever been wet?

I assume you read the Owner's Manual on how to shift the T Case from Hi to Hi Lock, then Lo Lock.

Hey Doc Olds!!
Long Time No Talk Too!!

yes on sunroof. No on floor ever wet. Drivers side yes but went thru clean out to solve. Do have bad BCM over there and I’m on a waiting list. Want my remote and TPS to work. It’s dead.

Know about the manual transfer process but just trying to get what I had back. Like that push button thing.

Whazzzzz Up. Easy stuff first. Have you checked the TCCM Switch Fuse 59 10A? While having a look, check the TCCM fuse 12 30A as well (less likely. but should make sure).

I would also look at the T Case Encoder Motor harness and connection, remove the harness connector and spray with CRC Electronic Cleaner to see if that helps.

Note that there is a connection between the BCM and TCCM and if you say your BCM has issues you may have found another?

I’ll check those, but not to go to far from my original post, Can the ABS sensor that is bad cause the 4x4 not to engage? It’s a Safety Thing or Whatever!

I know I have to fix that sensor and if that’s the case it may make my other mysteries go away.

Nope. ABS fault can affect StabiliTrak. With an ABS fault=NO ABS. No problem driving without ABS, unless you're driving on snow/ice covered roads.
