2006 sunroof not working
Just got this and the sunroof doesn't work.
Fuse is good.
Hear no noise and nothing even tries to move.
Before I drop the headliner I thought I would ask if there is a common problem with them.
I will keep trying to search, but found nothing do far.
TIA
Bob

Bob, please READ before you post a thread. I MOVED this for you. The FAQ section says in a Sticky Thread at the top: Do not post in this section
In a nutshell, just because you thought up a question does not make it an FAQ. H3 questions go in the H3 section.
Thanks.
If the Sunroof track & gears are not lubed, the gears can strip. Not unusual for motors to go bad, but it does not happen often.

I just looked again, on my phone this shows as the H3 section. I Again, sorry
That is one of the reasons I want to fix it so I can open it to clean out the drains.
When I did search all I got was posts about the drains.
Thanks for you responce.
Ok, the first problem was the power wires to the sunroof motor had been cut under the dash. Fixed them and got the sunroof to start moving.
The second problem was the roof had been dented in right behind the sunroof.
I got some of the dent out, but have a little more to get.
The vent part of the sunroof works now, and the sunroof will open about 1/2".
I think with some time I can get it functioning again, seems to be getting better each time, but need to fix the dent first.
After I get it open I will clean and lube all the tracks and hopefully everything will be ok.
I found it interesting that the power shut off to the sunroof when moving, is that normal?
Dont think I ever came across that before.
Also had a problem leaving the parking brake on. The parking brake switch wire was broken and would not always show that it was on.
Lots of other small wire problems under the dash
Looks like it might have has a remote start at one time, lots of wire taps.

Depending on how bad the roof dent is, it may also have bent the sunroof track. That would also cause your binding issue and would be a major project to fix/replace.
I am going to be optimistic, the main thing is I know what the problem is and I have made progress
Sucsess!
Took to window out and found that one of the window holdown springs was off the window and the end was in the track keeping the carriage from opening.
I cleand and lubed the tracks and the the wimdow still hung up closing.
I made up a jig that I could pry up on the car's roof and go it straightened out
Everything is working now.
Odd thing is I went to clean out the front drain tubes and they seem to go all the way to the floor on the cab and do not come out the firewall
Dont know if someone modified them or I have an oddball truck.
Nest step is to flush them out.
