Hummer H3 For the Hummer driver who wants the rugged look and off road capabilities of the Hummer, but in a smaller size and with a more fuel economy friendly engine.

Is 08' Hummer H3 Alpha Trans same as 06' H3 Trans?

Have you checked to see if any codes are present?

Default 08 4L60e Alpha transmission

No codes, just shifts at high RPM than normal 1-2 and 2-3.

Thanks for the interest.

So you don't replace the neck seal? I don't either

Not exactly what I was saying. I was pointing out that is is super simple, I have never seen a stuck filter seal that requires a tool to get it out. Just pull down/out the old filter, put the new filter in with the provided seal and slide it in. The last Wix filter/gasket set I used for the H3 already had the filter seal in place on the filter. Don't think they all come that way, but I have seen that before with Wix Trans filter kits for other GM vehicles.

I did not mention using a new pan gasket either, but we are getting obvious now. Right?

Righto. But something is majorly missing here. You can't pull out the old filter and put in a new filter with neck seal w/o pulling out the old neck seal first because the seal won't come out with the old filter. And the neck seal certainly requires some kind of tool to get out because it is press fit into the hole. You have to tap in a new seal, so I don't know how you'd install a filter with seal on it w/o busting up the plastic filter housing.

It's like we are talking about two different transmissions!

I must live the good life, never ever had that kind of trouble getting the old seal out. Screw driver and a small pliers maybe. Couple times they came out with the filter on various old GM trucks?

Maybe it is a mental block, being so traumatic that my brain refuses to recall the filter seal difficulty.

Thanks for the video Hummerz!

If a tool was not required for removal, the seal was probably not sealing properly :-) I hope you get treatment for your trauma, Doc. Mechanic PTSD??
