Default Is 08' Hummer H3 Alpha Trans same as 06' H3 Trans?

Are these transmissions inter-changeable? I have access to an 06' H3 transmission with 84k miles on it. Both transmissions are automatic.

My 08' H3 Alpha transmission is having trouble shifting from 1-2 until I left-off the accelerator.

I apologize in advance if this question has been posted.

2006 through 2010 H3/H3Ts all use the same 4L60E auto Trans.

IMHO if you are going to go through all the trouble/work to pull and reinstall the Trans, why not just rebuild the one you already have? I look at the eventual need for a rebuild as the opportunity to do it up right with some aftermarket HD parts to make it better than new.

Like it says in the FAQ Section, Do NOT Post anything there just because you thought up a question.

Oops, almost forgot. I think you have to swap the bell housing from the Alpha to the Trans from an I5.

Going for three....

You need a specific Torx 50 Plus bit (TP50) to use on the Bell Housing Bolts.

Which solenoids are reachable by just removing the transmission pan for this 4L60e?
Symptoms:
High revving when shifting from 1-2 and 2-3.
Transmission fluid dark.
Once not engaging and does not shudder.
..
Replaced transmission filter and trans oil.
.
Shifts from 1-2 and 2-3 slightly better.
.
Not sure if at 70 mph the RPM should be 3000 rpm?
.
Also, how do I remove the rubber/metal seal that accepts the transmission filter? Is there a special tool or method?
.
I have limited funds and time at the moment.
.
Thanks in advance.

We would need to know your tire size to review RPM at MPH. Pretty sure when my 09 Alpha on 305MTZs (33") tires is more like 75-77MPH at 3000 RPM. If you have smaller tires, then you might not be getting band slipping?

The old filter pulls out, the new one slides in, nothing to remove and no special tools. The H3 Filter is model specific, it has a corner cut off to accommodate the shape of the pan.

Just wanted to add - be sure that the transmission filter gasket comes out with the old filter - don't attempt to install a new filter and gasket with the old gasket still in place.
It might take a bit of effort to remove the old gasket.

Default Other Mods to 4L60e

What other minimum modifications should completed to improve the transmission at this point?

Thanks.
