'06 H3 intermittant not starting
My H3 has a one yr. old battery, new battery cables and starting motor seems fine. It does not start nor engage starting motor. Is this connected to any OEM anti theft shut off?
MOVED to the H3 section where all H3 questions go. The New Member Section is for introduction by noooobs to HF, says NOT for Tech Questions.
Search GM Passlock.
What is the resting Voltage of your Battery? Are you using Battery Cables with the OEM Battery Terminal Connectors?

12+ volts............... that is great, but at 12.3V a car battery is DEAD! 12. ? Volts is IMPORTANT.
yes, I am sure that's true. Battery is not even a year old. (Interstate). I did note when turning the key, all four "large relays" in the fuse box click. Perhaps one of those is failing and connected to start circuit.
First, please answer all the questions that we ask you with detail. If not, we can't and won't help. How many volts on the resting battery? Do you still have the factory battery terminals?
Second, when the H3 won't start is there a little flashing RED Lock symbol in your gauge cluster?

the truck is at the dealer, so can't answer your voltage question. One would assume since the alternator ws putting our proper voltage and the battery is less than a year old, it is not the battery. Don't know about dash light since I don't currently have the truck to see. thanks.
Oh boy............ It's a new Battery, can't be that. Just because it is "new/a year old" does not mean it is working today. Every man made part has a failure rate, even when absolutely brand spanking new out of the box. I have purchased brand new Alternators only to find out that after doing the work of installing it, they are dead or severely underperforming. When I buy a Battery, I look at all the Mfg dates on the stock and make them give me the newest available. Once home, it gets fully charged because if it sat on the shelf and in transport for 1-2 months, it is not ready for service. Yes, brand new Batteries can have a short or suffer from Sulfation, and die a quick death.
So much for trying to help.
Good luck.
