Engine Swap

Engine Swap
Can I replace the 6.0 L stock engine on my 06 H2 SUT with either a new 6.2L chevy crate engine ? How much if any modification would be involved ? Would I need a new wiring harness, computer etc or could it be plug and play doable ? Should I stick with a new 6.0 L chevy crate engine to make it plug and playable ? This is my first Hummer, and from what I've read, they went to the 6.2 in 08 and 09 because because they felt the 6.0 was under powered for the weight of the vehicle . I've also been looking at Edlebrock crate engines equivalent to the GM 6.2 . Any suggestions ?

Anything can be done with enough money. Hell you can do a Durmax swap if you want to drop $40k. I personally don't see the benefit of the 6.2 over the 6.0. Read truck forums and the general consensus is the 6.0 is more durable than the 6.2 for towing, offroading, etc. The 6.0 is basically an iron block LS2 where the 6.2 I believe is aluminum block.
Honestly I will bet the 6.2 is even underpowered for these things. It needs more torque not HP which is where the diesel comes into play. If it were me, I would do a 6.0 replacement brand new and maybe throw some mods into it while it's out of the truck like cam, lifters, things of that sort to squeeze some more power out of it. Or buy a used 6.0, rip into it for all forged internals and do a reliable FI setup.
The choice is yours......well and how deep your pockets are.
