Hummer H2For those who like a little more gleam to their Hummer, the H2 offers a similar rugged look as the H1, but as a lower cost, and with more added features, making it almost a massive luxury SUV.
That is an uncommon one for sure. From what I've read that was typically reserved for vehicles that got some special attention at the factory for "fit and finish" for vehicles that were designated for special events. No telling what special event though unless it can be traced back to the dealership that ultimately ended up with it to sell who "might" be able to say what it was used for. Could have been for a press event, press test driver, major auto maker show, for display or use at a big event like Concours De Elegance or a major race event, even a special pre-sale dealer display model. It is a neat code to have for sure but really only extra special if it is known exactly what is was used for. As far as factory treatment it just means they really went over it a a second time with a fine tooth comb to double check things like panel gaps, interior fitment is exacting, and general fit and finish.
For a number of years I was responsible for the Laser VIN marking equipment at a well know British car manufacturer.
A few car bodies came off the line with badly scorched VIN marks and of course I got questioned by the management who suggested it was a laser equipment failure.
Being put on the back-foot, after some serious head-scratching and a lengthy investigation, it turned out these were "show vehicles" which got special treatment to "gloss them up" i.e. an extra thickness of paint and lacquer.
The laser, of course, merrily burnt it's way through leaving behind a burnt and blackened smokey mess.
This of course was kept top secret from plant staff, hoping the cars could be "sneaked" through without anyone knowing. The press, public and even the dealerships were unaware that these were "special" showroom vehicles.
Interesting, the paint is in excellent condition. I’ve wondered how the paint could be so nice still, being from California. The clear coat is usually falling off gm vehicles of this era. There’s not any hummers nearby to compare to. I looked at the original title, and the hummer was first titled with 1100 miles on it. Someone from gm must have had it awhile.

What's the production date? The LA auto show '02 included the Yellow & Orange.
