Default For You 2008 and 2009 Guys.. Steering Wheel Upgrade

So you think that piece of shiny metal in front of you on your steering wheel is SS or some kind of metal......WRONG! It's Paint! I drive with my thumbs in the corner of the wheel and it rests on the what I thought was metal. I don't drive like that all the time. One day I notice a big black spot where the shiny stuff meets the leather wheel. I thought it was chicken grease from my thumb.

Wrong.. it was missing paint! Never knew that was paint. Loos just like a piece of SS or some shiny metal. So I went to my favorite leather guy... "Leather Mike

e" a Biker who has a Leather shop. He made me up some Velcro Leather wraparounds that match the plastic center of the wheel as far as texture. Came out very cool. Had him make one for the good right hand side to look like they belonged.
It is really comfortable..

Metal...L.O.L. My Butt.

I'm not sure what the previous owner had on their hands, but mine has like, bubbled up and has a weird texture. The only thing I can think of is they got some sort of acid on it. The plastic has "boiled" and bubbled. It's disgusting - no amount of leather wraps will help me. But it's a neat idea for a quick fix.

Replacements are on the to-do list, but rather far down.

Reminds me of my wife of 40yrs "duct tape fixes everything" however I stopped her many years ago from covering up the repair which takes time and Goo Gone to remove the residue from the tape. I prefer to spend the time and restore like new or better!

I'm still with my First wife! When she points out an issue, the only thing she has to do:"HOLD MY BEER", she also likes to watch/assist me and always learning the proper way to DIY.

Yes indeed, an Irish tempered drama queen Btw, I started early planning a few years ago, we agreed/chose our final resting place, and all burial costs are paid in full(pay cash and forget about any life insurance ripoff). Our names and birth years are inscribed in granite @Holy cross cemetery and I asked them to redo with whiter painted letters numbers which they did and will do forever, unless I die and nobody else cares about the appearance.
I take you to be my wife/husband, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, till death us do part, according to God's holy law.
