Hummer H2 For those who like a little more gleam to their Hummer, the H2 offers a similar rugged look as the H1, but as a lower cost, and with more added features, making it almost a massive luxury SUV.

Default What have you done to your H2 Lately?

Well... I have a bunch of projects in flight on the H2, and I took some time to take a drive with the windows down and the wind in my hair last weekend. At the end of the day I heard a dreaded thunk on the rear drivers side window as I tried to roll it up. A little searching pointed to a common issue: the window regulator.

So I ordeedr new ones for the drivers side and passenger side, and added a new task to the to-do list. I spent this weekend replacing the drivers side window regulator.
  • The OEM parts appear to be backordered so I went with Dorman, which should be better than original??
  • Parts: Dorman Replacements 751-707 (Drivers) + 751-708 (Passenger)
  • Both available on Amazon

The removal and replacement weren't too bad. Several videos on Youtube really helped:
  • to remove the door panel on an 08/09 - This is the front door... but read is very similar
  • to replace the window regulator

The OEM window regulator seems fine except for one little piece of plastic that broke -- horrible engineering. The full tension of the window relies on cable that is held in place by plastic - Could this have been a metal clip or engineered better - absolutely. Hard to believe we have to spend $100 on a small $5 piece of plastic -- maybe someone will 3D print these plastic pieces for repairs -- I am keeping my regulator for spare parts.

I agree, that little plastic piece should be metal
spent a little time getting the idle quality dialed in along with shift quality
gave it a good wash and general cleaning
next project, rear hatch latch has started acting up again, has stopped locking so sets off the alarm when I open it after locking the truck

Wash...Clay Bar...303 Nano Graphene The Paint...Chrome Polish the wheels. When it gets cooler....Attack the driver side Top Marker light. Carve off the RTV sealant....dig down to find that Roof Rail Bolt that is probably causing my A pillar headliner leak.

And..then??? will I take the chance and try and pry off the passenger side Power Mirror to replace the motor.... I'm freaked out that I could crack that mirror. There are no factory ones around. I know about the Ebay ones but they don't have that high beam coating on the Mirror surface.

Maybe I could fly one of you guys in that have done one before...LMAO.

let us know how you like the Amp steps, I've been thinking about them but hate to take the rails off, they deter people from letting their doors swing open.

so far the amp steps have been fine. i did like having the rockrails and side steps as it kept the pests at bay. especially honda's for some reason. but for what a set of used rockrails cost in questionable condition, then the crazy shipping pricing it was not much more to get the amp steps that had free shipping.
