Default Transmission issues

What's going on everyone, I'm new to this forum but I could really use some guidance because my brain is fried trying to figure this out. My 04 H2 won't start, it ran perfectly fine one day then next morning nothing. After getting the scanner out and diving into it, I noticed that the computer is saying it's in third gear, but the indicator and the TFF switch are reading correctly. I've been trying to figure this one out for over a month now and I really need my truck back on the road before show season gets here. I'm thinking it's a TCM issue, but I'm having trouble locating it. Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Matt

Can you elaborate and give more detail on what you mean by it won't start?

As in it won't crank or do anything because it thinks it's in 3rd gear.

The cable is good. It shifts the transmission through all the gears perfectly. The cable, TFF switch and indicator on the dash are all working and in sync, yet the computer is reading it's in third gear. I'm leaning towards it being the TCM but I haven't been able to locate it on this truck yet to test it and check the wiring.

if you disconect the range selector harness and it still thinks it is in third maybe check for a wiring issue down to the transmition maybe the cable for third is grounded. if it is not then look into the pcm.

MODULES RARELY FAIL! Inspect the transmission shift position sensor switch(connector/contacts/wiring)!

I believe for the 04 the trans tune is in the PCM, there isn't a separate TCM that I can tell.

check the electrical connection that hooks up to the transmission, mine had 2 wires broken off and making the transmission and the ob 2 said just wasn’t happening…..it was dried and brittle so they installed a new connector and the ghosts went away….
