Temp to low.
Automotive repair? Yeah trust you guys. Twinkle? Not sure you now me to discuss my age age or experience. Look, If I am wrong about orifice prove it it andI will thank you. Several bulletins out there, the pic I sent is the radiator, post a pic of a gm radiator without it and let’s discuss.
Z, I put a all aluminum radiator in my hummer for better cooling . Cools great. Manufacturers failed to address cold weather issues at 1/2 inch line to recovery tank. When the recovery tank line does not minimize recirculating flow, you get a code, cold coolant. Poor mileage, will not pass emission test because of coolant to cold. Engine will not reach op temp in cold weather. It is my issue because of radiator I installed. It is fixed with orifice in recovery tank line for cold weather and in no way effect hot weather driving, been there done that. Recovery tank had nothing to do with hot weather cooling.
Thanks to Neal, for his help in proving Z is WRONG. Check his earlier post. Clear that if your radiator does not have orifice to reduce circulating coolant thru recovery tank you will have low coolant temp problems in cold weather conditions. You’ll get a check engine P0128 code.
Neal it’s all good. Your right, wtf. What is this guy thinking. Went to the two GM dealerships today I tried to find answers with pics and service bulletins, they said thanks and even got a service credit for labor to the replacement thermostatI I didn’t need. Your right if I sold the 2 and a service found this. Just don’t understand why Hummerz is negative about find and fix.
I think you guys will like this. Found picture on the net to get idea of orifice size. Used a spent 45 shell with the primer removed and shortened to about 3/8 of an inch. Inserted it in the tank hose on the radiator end to meet flush with the radiator bib. Clamped it in place and reattached hose to radiator. Just back from test and all is back to normal.
The whole in the shell case I used is 5/64. I didn’t pull hose off radiator to see if it had a orifice or not, just assumed it didn’t. I didn’t want to drain down some of the coolant, maybe some day. I decided to put the orifice up by the recovery tank. My temp would not go above 170 or so, now it’s back to normal. You may be fine with a 1/8 orifice. Hard to tell by the pic I found what size it really is. I used a Cold Case Radiator.
Well you have not responded back to facts of p0128 check engine, and you continue to bad mouth others, you surely think your have are right all the time, informed, smarter, and unfortunately degrade others. Sad story. I gave you the opportunity to prove me wrong about the orifice. No response. I am a new member for H2, owned 2 other H3, one an Alphaa, You are listed as a senior, act like it, Youu are the type that interrupts good conversation. You called a member pansy talking about upgrading to heated steering wheel. WTF
