I use them both, depending on what I'm doing determines which one I use.

If programming a module on 07 and older vehicles I will use the Tech2 with TIS2000, if on newer vehicles I use the Nano and TIS2WEB.

The Tech2 with the correct software can diagnose vehicles up to 2013 but only program up to 2007 using TIS2000

I personally feel the Tech2 is a better option and more stable, I've had a few issues with the Nano but it has been working fine for a little while now.

I am using a small laptop with windows 7 with the Nano and the Tech2 for programming using Pass-thru mode and all is working fine.

If all you are wanting to do is diagnostics on vehicles then the Nano will do it and it will do everything the Tech2 will do. The Nano is an MDI 1 clone which is the tool that replaced the Tech2 originally. The Nano uses a windows based program that is a Tech2 emulator called TECH2WIN and has all the same menus and functions as the Tech2

I purchased my nano along with a laptop with needed software from VXDiagshop, they use email support and Teamviewer if needed for a tech to login to your computer and look things over. they've been very fast to answer my questions and give support.

I am assuming $220 isn't a bad price for the full package? What benefit would this have for someone like myself without air suspension? I am clueless in this department, where did you guys learn Tech2 from?

It is still useful for diagnosing and testing various things and systems on the vehicle. Has a LOT of built in test abilities like crank position sensor variation relearn, troubleshooting the ABS (4WAL) system, can also change the tire size installed (also in the ABS menus) which recalibrates the speedo as well as adjusts the shift points and transfer case (I'm not sure offhand what tire sizes it shows for an H2 but I'll check), can recode replacement stock stereos, test all lighting, injector balance tests, recalibrate the HVAC blend door actuators, literally can activate/test pretty much everything electrical on the vehicle in addition to reading and clearing any codes, and if using additional software update the software on certain modules. Most all other "code reader" devices can just check and clear codes. A Tech2 can do far more.

the one they have on sale for 220$ does not come with a case to store all the supplied bits. you will probably want to get something to store them like a hard case to keep it all in... maybe from like harbour freight.

Well - I just looked and changing the calibrated tire size does not show up on a 2003 Hummer in it. On GM vehicles you can change that it only shows sizes that are specifically factory optional regardless and I'm not aware of any other tire size that was avaiable for the H2. Even the ones with the 20" factory wheels still used the same size OD tire diameter as far as I know.

Aside from that, still a massively useful tool of you own GM vehicles (prior to about 2012 models) and work on them yourself at all.

it paid itself off the minute i updated the transmission software. it got rid of that damn harsh shift the 2003 h2's suffered from. it almost felt like there was slack in the drivetrain or a stretched chain in the transfercase. drove me nuts.

Interesting, thanks for the info gents. I may pull the trigger once I do some reading and watching videos on the thing. Seems like a good tool to have for these old ladies.
