Hummer H2 For those who like a little more gleam to their Hummer, the H2 offers a similar rugged look as the H1, but as a lower cost, and with more added features, making it almost a massive luxury SUV.

Default Sunroof Attachment to Roof

My 2008 sunroof has a seriously loud rattle. At first I thought it was the glass bouncing that caused the noise, but upon further inspection I believe it's the whole assembly being loose. If I push on the glass it moves about 1/4" up, but it can still rattle even if I'm holding it all the way. If I start pressing against the headliner around the edges of the sunroof, I'll eventually find a spot that silences the rattle, leading me to believe it may somehow be loose where it attaches to the roof.

Before I go through the effort of pulling the whole headliner, I wanted to see some pictures of how it attaches to the roof. I didn't see any good quality ones though - TONS of stuff on removing the headliner and tons of pics on the headliner itself, but not much around the sunroof.

Does anyone have info on the sunroof system attaching to the roof of the vehicle? OR any other ideas around the rattle?

All of the screws on the rails and moving pieces are tight. I've even loosened, tried adjusting and re-tightening. Here's a video of me pressing on the glass. This is what it sounds like, when driving, right above your head. Constantly.

You can definitely see light at the corner when you push up. So something's definitely loose. Can you tell if it's loose in the track itself? Or if the track is moving up when you push up? No idea how it's mounted, never had my headliner off 😲

Just checked my 2003 H2. It does push up almost a quarter inch. Mine doesn't rattle at any speed. It also does not leak. Wondering if that's why the previous owner put a wind deflector just in front of it. I also checked our 2014 Escalade. No movement at all pushing up on it.

Looking over the repair procedure it suggest only lowering the head liner enough to reach the fasteners on each side of the guides.

My sunroof hasn't been open in at least 2 months. I went ahead and opened the back of it, and then opened it fully, now it's tight again. You might try that.

The H2 came from the factory with a wind deflector. You can not drive vehicle with roof open without a deflector. Too much resonance and buffeting.

This is a long write up I found years ago, great points and procedures to resetting the sunroof.

Ooo this looks promising. Sounds just like my issue. I'll give it a shot in the next few days.
