Hummer H2 For those who like a little more gleam to their Hummer, the H2 offers a similar rugged look as the H1, but as a lower cost, and with more added features, making it almost a massive luxury SUV.

Default Shopping for an 2008-2009 H2

Hello, I've decided to get an H2 SUV and am focusing in on the 2008-2009 model years. Other than that, I'm looking for the following items:
  • Mileage, willing to go as high as around 175K
  • Minimal rust underneath
  • Open to any color other than black (I live in AZ) or yellow
  • No accidents
  • Generally good condition without major issues
  • Light modifications are OK but would prefer stock all the way around
Thanks!

Price range drives a lot for the 08/09s... if you want low mileage, I recommend taking a look at what A&L Imports has on sale in Texas. They always have a set of low mileage 08/09 Hummers available... that is what they are known for. https://aandlimports.com/newandusedc...=H2&ClearAll=1

> 2009 is the rarest of the Hummers... few were made and you will pay more
> There were two seat colors... Ebony (black) and Brick (dark orange). The Brick is the rarer color and usually priced higher. The Brick shows more wear than the Ebony, and Brick with high mileage will show a lot of wear on the drivers seat.
> There there are several models above the Base with the difference being Luxury got you Nav and DVD, where Adventure got you adjustable air shocks in the rear... of course many variations... but those are the biggies.
> There were special edition colors that cost you more: Ultra Marine, Silver Ice, and Sedona
> Then there is mileage... under $100K will increase price

A couple things to think about to help narrow your search.

If your price range is in the $60k - $70k range send me a message... though as a junior member you may not be able to! You can ping me on the message board on my profile. Also... think about the SUV or SUT.. the SUT is rarer though that does not appear to impact pricing because few people want one...

Thank you for your response and info! I'm looking for something under $30k. This is just going to be a weekend toy for the family, so it will get used, just not a ton. Regarding mileage, I'm good to about 175k miles. There are several out there within these ranges. I just haven't quite found the one. I've had a few close calls but each time there was something that popped up, eliminating them. For this reason, I'd be a lot easier if they were nearby. I'm in AZ and found a 2009 yesterday on the LA Craigslist but after further inquiries it definitely appears to be a scam.

I have found that the Price Gurus charts are typically accurate for expected mileage which is around 150k for a 2008... prices escalate quickly below 75k...

A couple other things to add to your check list:
- Rear Springs work just as good as the air suspension. The Adventure gives you the ability to raise the rear which is nice though rarely used+ gets you an air compressor outlet to blow up toys ... but the air bags don't last long and cost about $800 each to replace if done at the dealer... find springs to reduce maintenance costs
- Tires matter and due to the weight of the vehicle oversized tires will wander... you don't want anything above 35x12.5. If they have the OEM tires on, be aware that they rub from the factory, and it is not a vehicle problem.
- Rear visibility is poor. If the H2 comes with a rear camera in the bumper it really helps. Option UVA puts the camera in the rear mirror. Option OVB puts it on the navigation screen... you want UVB... or plan to invest in running cables for a rear view camera
- There are certain parts that are impossible to find new or used... you wants these in good condition:

> Upper Dash Panel - this is right under the windshield on the interior... vehicles parked in the sun will show many cracks... this part is impossible to find.
> Any metalized trim - the trim is easily scratched and worn... especially around the door handles, radio and in the arm rest...very rare to find except from parted out vehicles.
> Seat leather - the drivers seat left is typically the problem... people slide out of the hummer. expensive to repair, and you have to go to an upholsterer if you cannot find used covers on eBay.
> Exterior trim and bumpers - the black trim around the vehicle can really only be found off of wrecked H2s... you want that in good condition. Bumpers can be found on eBay but are costly.
> Hood - If there are cracks or damage they can be repaired as it is fiberglass... but it is an expensive journey.
> Grille - very difficult to find and replace... it needs to be in good condition
> 4x4 - while easy to get repaired, check to make sure all the options work correctly as repairs can be expensive

Needs ABS module to be sent out for rebuild ($150)

if interested you can text me at 347-452-9938.

Thanks @Brunob00 for all that great information. I didn't realize there was such a difference between the 2008 and 2009 models. The 2008 will be more in line with my budget and I'm completely fine with one a year older.

That's a nice looking SUT @mcioci! Unfortunately it's going to be out of my price ranged. I'm probably looking more at something with over 100k miles. I'm also more interested in the SUV (but wouldn't completely rule out a SUT if a great opportunity fell in my lap). There is one in Scottsdale that someone likely is getting at a great price. I'd even consider that one even though it is black -- but very likely sold by now.

Mission accomplished! I picked up a Slate Blue Metallic '08 with just under 100k miles from some very nice people in Texas this past weekend. It is an all-stock, one-owner vehicle that was taken very well care of both inside and out. It doesn't even have the usual wear marks on the interior AC/heater buttons! I'm very pleased.

Did you ever find a 2008 H2 ? If not I have one pretty much stock. The only thing it could use a set of tires but my price of $16,500 takes that into consideration. However I’m in Houston, Texas
