Seat skin change on driver's seat? How easy to do on H2
My driver side seat skin on the bottom half of the seat (part your butt goes on) has worn and glazed.
I got a new OEM seat skin and the foam pad that goes underneath.
How easy is it to replace it?
Do you need hog rings? Or does it just clip on and off?
Do I need to pull the seat out of the Hummer to change the skin? I am guessing so.
Presume the power seat controls on the side of the seat will have to be removed?
Does it need to be somehow specially stretched to get it onto the seat.
Replacement part looks like it should just clip on the metal frame somehow, because it has long plastic edging which looks like it crimps onto something on the seat.
How hard is this gonna be to do?
Thanks for any advice.

I replaced my leather seat bottoms and installed new foam. It's not too hard, just takes a little time.
You do have to remove the seat.
You do not need hog rings, everything just clips onto the lower frame.
The most tedious part was that I had to remove the heater from the leather of the original seat bottom, then I attached the heater to the new leather bottoms with 3M adhesive spray. Looks like new and works great.
This was one of the best videos I could find while figuring out what I needed to do.
Good luck!

Something wrong with replying to an appropriate 7-year-old thread? You saw it?
And, you didn't really answer the question. I'm wondering if there are aftermarket seat foam cushions available, and was trying to interact with someone who seemingly had already gone down the path.
For me, it's much easier to buy a correct foam pad, than "go to a local upholstery shop and have then make one". I know I can do that - as a last resort.
