Hummer H2 For those who like a little more gleam to their Hummer, the H2 offers a similar rugged look as the H1, but as a lower cost, and with more added features, making it almost a massive luxury SUV.

Thumbs up Running board delete

I posted in the past about my rock rails rusting out and that the running boards are starting to flex...
Took a closer look and it wasn't pretty and Im not exactly a lightweight...

Not looking to put $$$ into powerboards but running boards had to go.

Loving the look sans boards!

Looks like it gained a few inches lift, much "cleaner" look and even looks "wider" as tires are widest point on vehicle

Before

After
Hopefully I wont break my neck prior to finding a fix

the amp research running boards look exactly like the picture of just the rock rails you posted above.
when they are in the closed position. very clean looking as you mentioned. but yeah pricey.

H2's definitely look better without any running boards. I figure they're for the convenience of people who just use it to go grocery shopping

I would leave it as is, unless for age or health reasons you need them. I figure I'll be 85 and still driving my H2!

When I bought My 2008 H2 I had running boards & had no clue what they were (as they were stuck in the down position) after fixing other issues I found out they were Amp Research. I looked them up and Yes they are around $1,700 I had to get a new motor for 1 side and put 1 fuse in. I freaking love them now. But, I 👍 agree $1,700 plus installing, wiring, a lot of $$$..... just hire some illegal 🚫 aliens to jump out, get on their hands and knees like king xerxes in 300 then walk down on their backs😁

I like the clearance of the stock Sliders. And the protection you get from them. I have slid over a few rocks at Rausch Creek Off Road Park. Saved my doors and trim.

I'm so use to getting in and out with out any steps it doesn't bother me even to think about getting in and out. It's like muscle memory. I turn in the seat and slide down..L.O.L. Getting in I grab the A pillar handle ..stick my leg in and brace with my right hand on the seat and pull up. ..It would be nice to have those power steps. They are cool. But the time is coming when I'll have to replace the sliders with something.

So you have a stock hummer which is lower to the ground then most peeps who either bought their Hummer H2 already modified with larger rims and tires?
That means it's a bit taller.

Yep..It's a LUX Version with the Chrome wheels. But I had a set of Super Swampers and 2007 Rims that I would put on to off road. Steet time was the stock rim and tire.

But I'm done with Intermediate Trail Off Roading. Got sand in one air bag which leaked out at home. Smoked a Compressor assembly that went under water a few times and such replaced under warranty as well as the Air Bag. Had a lot of fun. Now the chassis has been cleaned up and done with A rino type paint on the chassis. It's all good now.

Did you get the entire under carriage painted ? Mine was only painted on the sides & I want to get the entire undercarriage painted. I saw a jeep up North the entire vehicle was sprayed with "rhino liner."

That's one expensive step. My original factory ones still look good. I will probably keep them and spray them with a bed liner to preserve them. Just glad where I'm at they don't dump salt on the roads in the winter.
