Hummer H2 For those who like a little more gleam to their Hummer, the H2 offers a similar rugged look as the H1, but as a lower cost, and with more added features, making it almost a massive luxury SUV.

Hi,
I was wondering what the best modification to have done to your H2 were. Which ones were really worth bothering with?
I'm setting my wife's Hummer up as a hunting fishing exploration truck. Not looking to do any technical rocks or mud or heavy-duty trails.trails.
Her truck is an 03, with about 170k on it. I've done brakes, I'm fixing up the interior and I'm going to do a tune-up on it if the weather holds.

Welcome to Hummer Forums. Just ignore this guy. He has been a jerk to a lot of people on here. And he has contaminated an otherwise great website.

By far the best modification we have done to ours is to:
1) FIrst, you need to see where you are going. So run the jumper to keep driving lights lit when headlights are ON. There is info and diagrams on how to do that on this website.
2) replace both the driving lights and headlights with ZEVO LED lights. Great white light, and an updated look (yellow headlights are always indicative of old cars).
3) for bush driving, would also recommend a roofrack light bar. OEM style available from Delta. Here:
https://www.deltalights.com/oem-roof...er-h2-sut/p501

Next, change ALL THE FLUIDS, and carry tools and extra drivebelt, etc. if you go into the yonder.

Consider carrying a 2nd spare, especially since shale can slice up tires, if you are going off-road. Or at least consider a good tire plug kit/compressor.

That would be a good start.

Default Thank you!!!

I'll have to get a look at the jumped idea, it sounds great. I'm hoping to get a smittybuilt rack for the roof and do front/side/rear LEDs. I'd really like the Gobi, but it's pricey...
Would you change the transmission fluid after 172k? It used to be that you didn't change it I'd you didn't know how long it had been because it could lead to transmission trouble.
I'll have someone change the rest either way....
I just replaced the bulbs in the front lights, but I can do the leds fir sure.
I just replaced the stereo with one with navigation and a back up camera. I fixed the gauges while I was in there, just cleaning up messes previous owners left.
We won't be doing heavy duty off roading, but I have a Milwaukee compressor and a decent set of tools too. Going to fabricate a high lift mount, and we have a winch for it as well. Probably going to leave it on the 2" drwa bar set up, since I can't afford a winch bumper.
Thank you

Yes, regarding the trany fluid change. I change the T-case, Front and rear diffs, brake, and the transmission fluid every 2 years. Cheap insurance.
PS fluid also every 5-10 years. Coolant every 5.
On a very high mileage rig like yours, this is especially important.

Default Thank you.

I'll bring it in and get to that shortly. I have the technical skills but it isn't worth the mess.

I just bought one of these light kits
https://www.kchilites.com/kc-50-over...yABEgJrLfD_BwE

They’re halogens but brighter thank their led counterparts. They also look cool and they’re affordable. Have your local fab/off-road shop make some mounts that go into the mounting rails the roof racks go into. Or just mount them to the roof rack.

Unfortunately those raise your clearance by quite a bit. The beauty of retrofitting the OEM light bar is that it does not increase your vehicle height.
That is no concern when you are in the bush, but it sure is a concern trying to park it in an underground parking lot.
Where I live, even a stock H2 does NOT fit 99% of those lots.

And the OEM bar is much more integrated and sleeker, and looks like it belongs. Those KC lights do not.
