Default Optima battery in the H2

My battery is giving up lately and I wanted to go one step further and buy an Optima Red Top. I've searched some old threads but there were mixed opinions. I wanted to know what you guys think. Red Top, Yellow Top or stay stock. Keep in mind I tend to do a lot of short distance trips (even 2-3 miles) a few times a day. Cheers!

I have a red top in my '69 GMC and it's still going strong after 5 years.

I have the Odyssey Extreme 34-PC1500 installed on my truck last year, so far so good.

I have dual yellow tops in my truck for about 4 years now.
I also do a lot of short trips and the batteries are doing fine.

I think I will go with the red top. My cables have been converted to use the standard top battery clips instead of the front ones. Will have to check for clearance on the Optima.

I have a battery tender solar panel mounted between the cross bars that keeps my battery charged. Been going strong for 4 years with no issues. Before that I had trickle drain of the battery and it always was low voltage.

I've heard this is far superior to the optimas. It's just the cost that keeps most people from buying them.

You have to post pics of this set up!
What's the power output from the panel?

Yeah I'd love to see some pics of the Optimas mounted in the H2. Google only throws H3 photos. I'm still a bit worried that the optima might be too tall to fit in the stock bracket. I've found a local shop that sells them might just go over to and try to squeeze it in.

If you are still unsure about getting an Optima, the Interstate is a good battery.

Unfortunately no Interstate batteries here in Poland. I saw someone mention them in a thread I once saw. However I'm giving the red top a shot. Going to pick it up next week.
