With you on the buttons, I chose Pioneer but nearly went with Kenwood. DAB is Digital Audio Broadcasting, not available in north america but now mainstream in the UK and Europe .

I mention these as guidlines for choosing a replacement system.

Checking Pioneer's web-site not much has changed, may be the same with Kenwood.

Everything works, steering controls, MIC, back-up camera, voice controls (its nice being able to ask google stuff) Sound System is excellent. Videos and music videos can play via SD/USB/DVD but not displayed whilst driving.

It would be nice to have the HVAC on screen, but I'm not sure the H2 can interface with that.

 

I am not sure of what CAN bus protocols the head units can interface with bidirectionally. but some do state steering wheel button learn through the can bus. would be fun to rip out all that antiquated hardware like radio, onstar, climate controls and have just one large central infotainment system though with all the current bels and whistles. I have an o3 so no TPMS no NAV no Onstar no backup camera. some of those android radios even allow for parking sensors and 360 view from 4 cameras and the option to record I guess like usual its up to what you want to spend.

 

To get all the stuff on screen, including check engine codes, gauges, etc you need to have an 08/09 model and then you can get a Maestro interface and all of that can be on your stereo. They "could" make one for the 03-07 models (including every GM truck and SUV on the road too) but they will not. I asked and they do not think there is enough market to bother with it. On the brand units, Kenwood and Pioneer are pretty much about the same and both US and EU models have the same features except DAB in the EU and HD Radio in the US.

Not sure how it works on the Pioneers but you can just ground a single wire and then you can also view video while moving on Kenwood and probably most all Chinese units too. There are a ton of choices nowadays for sure.
