Default No equipment sounds H2 2008

Hey guys,

We were in the market for a work truck and the H2 dinged all of the boxes necessary. Also got it for a steal with 80k miles on it...

I went to get it commercially inspected and it failed for a few reasons.

Lost comm door control module.
TPMS sensors not installed
C0755 R/F

The dealership I bought it through sold it to me commercially so, most of it’s getting fixed on warranty - My major issue with the vehicle is the lack of instrument sounds.

I was reading on here it may it may be a bcm issue or a fuse.

What would be the best route to diagnosing the issue and moving forward with a fix?

thank you guys!

the sounds come in through the stock radio and stock Bose amp. if either where replaced improperly with aftermarket then no ding.

Gotcha. None of the rear speakers are working, either so, I imagine this is the culprit.

I have a new radio on order - Nav and everything. It looks like the wiring is a mess.

What would the stock harness be? Would it just make sense to add BT at this point?

Could I do both and kill 2 birds with one stone?

if your going with factory nav unit then it will not have BT but if your installing an aftermarket radio then check if it is BT capable or compatible.

Doesn't you radio come with BT? (usually do these days)

Will you want to retain all the steering controls as well?

This subject has been well covered on this forum, but as far as I know you'll need something like a Steering Wheel Control Module for the steering controls and a GMOS-04 for the chimes, unless someone has a better solution.

We've all been there!

some of the new android car radios have all that built in now including wifi hotspot and apple/android car play. ODB2 interface and can bus interface for steering, tpms, climate control

here is a sample of one but others have even more features and higher specks like 8 core cpus

Thats a coool radio!!

Android-Auto is very good, voice command and voice dialling is a must for me, rarely have to touch the screen!

You guys have Sat Radio in the US, we have DAB in UK which is also brilliant, no fading and more station/music information.

A good radio system transforms the Hummer and brings it up to modern standards.

All we need is rain wash/wipe, parking systems and a ejector seat for the wife when she starts nagging!

Actually the US version of DAB is HD Radio. It has never been pushed much here though and as such many are not aware of it. Also the coverage and station support is pretty limited but it still is growing. I actually like it and it is one of the reasons I went with the Kenwood stereo I did. As of about a year ago when I last checked, not one single Chinese Android radio had HD Radio capabilities. For those not familiar - it is digital audio from regular radio stations, and more including album art. It works very similar to over the air TV stations now in that a radio station might have its main broadcast also in digital but also might have 1 or more additional channels as well. For example one of our local stations, I can have it on 96.7, once the HD signal is detected (a small HD icon appears on screen) the audio suddenly becomes crystal clear CD quality, and I can then hit the up button and it changes to 96.7-2, and again for 96.7-3 which have totally different music playing from a totally different category. Main station might be country while a secondary might be classic rock.

In the US you can look up if your local station have HD abilities here https://hdradio.com/stations/

Here where I live, if you add up all of the -2 and -3 ones we get 9 additional stations, all digital. Pretty cool but you do have to be fairly close to the station or it drops back to analog and the additional channels go away. If you live and spend most time in a decent size city than you probably have some available. If you live in a rural area, not so much. It is 100% free but your stereo has to have HD Radio built in to receive it. I see album art as well on my Kenwood on some stations. Depending on the station and radio you also might get local traffic, weather, info too.

On satellite radio (Sirius/XM), I figured that was worldwide but never really thought about it. Satellite radio is a subscription service though, have to pay for it and most stereo's, factory often as well, require an additional tuner and satellite radio antenna to receive it along with paying the monthly subscription fees.

I did also have a couple of other requirements. I wanted a traditional volume ****, and hard buttons for doing certain things, and GPS (certain Kenwoods have Garmin GPS built in). I'm just not fond of everything being on a single slick smooth screen. I can change the source and station without taking my eyes off the road, not going to happen with a slick smooth screen, you must look at the screen to see when you are trying to do, of course if you are looking at the screen, you are not looking at the road in front of you.
