Hummer H2For those who like a little more gleam to their Hummer, the H2 offers a similar rugged look as the H1, but as a lower cost, and with more added features, making it almost a massive luxury SUV.
Hello everyone
I have a odd request that I need help with.
I need to lower my 2005 h2 about 1 inch.
So I can clear my garage door. ( insurance purposes) hagerty insurance will only insure if stored in garage and the the pricing for them is only $425 per year full coverage
here are my details of the hummer
2005 h2 with factory coil springs ( no air suspension)
no roof rack
the only kits that i see are for 3" inches (lowering)
I can order the 3" lowering kit and add 1 1/2 inch spacers. But really don't prefer this route.
is it possible to maybe use the chevy tahoe springs (or any other gm vehicle)to achieve this? Or would anyone know the spring rate for the hummer h2?
Thanks in advance.
have a great day!
Not sure why you are needing to lower, it looks like it fits just fine, with at least 5" to spare. But I would say adjusting the torsion keys for the front and looking at some parts on rock auto the two vehicles have some of the same part numbers so I would try to find the specs on the springs for each and compare length, weight capacity and such. Or just take a chance and order ones for the smaller vehicle. There is a good weight difference between the two so i am sure the H2 will compress more than the alt vehicle.

thanks for your reply. Once its in the garage its fine . Its getting past the entrance. It will rub a little on the way in. I will be adjusting the the torsion key a little ( about 1" inch)
I was hoping someone might already know the spring rate so it would take out some of the guess work.
Looks like the garage door is a little crooked. You might want to make sure it's opening all the way. The arm that lifts the door has several holes, you can make the door open more by going a hole or two down on the arm. The adjustment is on the curved arm where it meets the door.
Change the garage door motor from style you have now to a side winding motor- I did this in my garage when I lived in SC, you can get the tracks closer to the ceiling and use all of the door casing for clearance... link is just for product reference... https://www.northshorecommercialdoor...EaAn3LEALw_wcB
