Hummer H2 SUSPENSION lift
i dont know crap about lift kits or lifting vehichles so will have to help me out so.. I want to get a 4in suspension lift on my hummer h2. im leanin towards gettin a Rancho 4in lift but my friend tells me theres a cheaper way to do it. what do i need to do and what parts do i need to get to get a 4in suspension lift on my hummer h2? reasonably priced and easy to do. be VERY specific also. thanks
Having done a suspension lift I can tell you this, there is no "cheaper" way to do it that wont cause a serious safety issue or break something on your truck.
There will be some consideration as well if you have air in the back or coils. Theres a different kit for each.
Obviously your going to need the shocks, rancho, skyjacker whatever you prefer. I'm very happy with my skyjacker gear whereas I was not pleased with rancho. Its preference and what your actually going to do with it. If your planning to off road it, it may be a more significant difference.
Going to need new front knuckles and a torsion bar drop kit
A 4inch lift may or may not affect what wheels and tires your using, depends on the parts used specific to the backset. something to check on.
Heres the big thing, depending on how much "true lift" you achieve (true lift being how much lift at full extension and compression) you might have to lengthen your drive lines. I know I did as at full extension the driveline was barely in the spline and was in danger of actually coming out or stripping the spline.
The lift will drastically affect your alignment so budget to have that done as well. While your at it, be prepared to replace your wheel bearing assemblies and upper rod ends, they are a significant point of wear.
Lastly your pitman arm, depending on true lift you may have to swap it out as well.
The moral of the story for me was, I ended up calling a flatbed and having my truck taken to my local 4x4 shop to get completed "the right way" which could have been done much faster and cheaper than my shade tree mechanic skills could.
Dont forget to post pics when your done.
