Default Hummer Grill

Does anyone know if the top chrome grill is compatible for all years? I think I remember the 03-07 grills are different than the 08-09 grills. Do they have different clips in different locations?

Yes they are different. I believe the mounting bolts are in different places and it’s a little bigger than 03-07

Only difference I'm aware of is if you put the newer style on an older H2 then you also need the smaller lower part as well.

i was thinking of buying one that came off of an older model and installing the TREX mesh in it then installing it on my 2008. I dont want to touch or modify the grill currently on my 2008.

Ok - talked to a buddy and he said yes. You can put an 08/09 grille on a 03-07 or vice versa but you DO need both the main upper grille as well as the lower grille. On 03-07 the HUMMER lettering is on the main grille, on 08/09 that is on the lower smaller part of the grille. The lower smaller part has somewhat different attachment points. Very similar but in slightly different spots and they are not compatible with the wrong upper grille.

Some links for example pictures.
03-07 Upper https://www.pacificmotors.com/auto-p...v-sut-2003-07/
03-07 Lower https://www.pacificmotors.com/auto-p...sut-2003-07-2/
08/09 Upper https://www.pacificmotors.com/auto-p...sut-2008-09-2/
08/09 Lower (only pic I could easily find)
Amazon Amazon

Note that the HUMMER lettering is in different places and note the small slots where the lower grille attaches to the upper grille are different between the two styles. Old style has two slots at the top while the newer style has three at the top.

Correct. Both upper and lower must be pair from the same year. Brush guards work on all years as well as far as the bolt locations.

Thanks for the info. That sucks tho. I wanted to keep using my OEM lower grill that is on the 08. Looks so much better than the older style.
