Default Hose hanging down from underneath H2

Hi, I realized that there is a small hose hanging underneath My 2008 H2 (see pics).
I'm wondering if it's a vent for something or attaches somewhere.
The hose doesn't leak any fluid.
please advise.....B

Your H2 is trying to relieve itself. Properly secure the vent tube in a vertical position to prevent damage.

So it's definitely a vent tube? For what exactly?
Also, could I simply cut it shorter?

Thank you....B

It does look like the transfer case vent hose. Normally routed up over the transmission, ending up behind your intake manifold at the upper part of the bell housing.
