Heated Seats Don't Work - 2004 H2
Does any one have first hand experience troubleshooting the heated seats? On both the drivers and passengers side when I press the buttons, it instantly turns itself off. Sometimes (rarely) it will turn on by itself for a few minutes and heat the back (not the seat) and then cut off. Where do I start troubleshooting this? My usual goto mechanic said they don't mess with heated seats and I'd need to go to the GM dealer (that isn't happening). I know the heating elements are sewn into the leather so I'd be looking at taking those off and replacing the elements. Does any one know the part numbers for the pads or is there another equivalent from another GM truck that will plug in (I believe they are green plugs under the seats)? This is something I've wanted to fix for awhile but haven't had time to look into. Is there anything else I should check first before just replacing the heating elements that are sewn in? Is it possible to take the leather covers off without removing the entire seat from the truck? I have so many questions! Any help would be greatly appreciated!
There is a TSB about the seat wiring rubbing on the seat bracket and causing a problem like your having. I would start with a close visual inspection of the wiring. Now that I think about it more, I think there was also a wire chaffing problem under the dash by the emergency brake bracket. Search for a TSB,
