Hummer H2For those who like a little more gleam to their Hummer, the H2 offers a similar rugged look as the H1, but as a lower cost, and with more added features, making it almost a massive luxury SUV.
I have been trying to isolate some road noise. It seems like it is coming from the right front. This one is kind of tricky because the K02 tires are about 70% gone. I have checked for play on the right side but thing are tight. I might need to pull the half shaft
in order to see how well the bearing rotates. It doesn't pull or drive bad and tracks straight. I changed the front diff fluid to see how it looked, it was clean. The H2 has 97k on it which is not that much. I know my old SUT had 135k on it and I had zero noises from the front.
Has anyone on the forum with this approx mileage had to replace a front bearing or half shaft because of noise issues. I know Chevy 2500HD's can easily go 200K without replacement of these parts but many factors can effect that.
I may just purchase 2 new moog hubs and replace them both and I am wondering if I should consider doing the half shafts as well. I would really hate to do that considering Genuine GM half shafts are crazy expensive. Any thoughts?
your better off with timken if available. the moog ones do not last as long on h2.
Interesting about the prices of the hubs, Genuine GM $270., (GM Pro and Moog approx 150. Timkin $202. Funny thing is they all say they are made in China except for the Genuine GM which probably is as well.
(there are other that say the same thing) I am also on the forest river forum (for R'vers) that many are also saying when they replaced their wheel bearings they said the box said "Made in China"
Also, where did you find Timken H2 hums for $100? One thing I do know for sure at this point is that Delco Professional and Moog Hubs are made in the same plant in China.
That's a bearing, NOT a HUB.
Fyi, SKF is a bearing supplier to GM, yet they have manufacturing plants in many countries. Where the bearing is manufactured, depends on the cost for production. Don't forget, back in '09 GM filed chapter 11. Before that, your hub bearing changed hands, and today GM has no reason to offer an OEM hub bearing (nor oem cv axle) on a 14yr old vehicle.

Lots of interesting information and from the looks of it seems its going to be very difficult to know for sure you have a quality US part, btw, where did you find Timkin for $100?
