Default H2 engine lock set

Hi All,

Before I begin: the enginehood lock and cables were missing in my truck (H2, 2003) when I bought it. I made a new cable and bought a lock. Finally, I was able to install them and everything is working properly when I test it. However, when I try to close the engine hood it doesn’t lock that. I suspect the hood buckle doesn’t contact into the lock properly.
The questions are:
- can you guys suggest me a way to find the reason?
- do you know where could I find the height of the side engine hood holders? (I can imagine it set too high in my case)

I had similar issue. I removed the lock bracket on top of hood and when I put it back on it would not close. Once moving the top lock up a few millimeters it closed as normal. Good luck

edit i may have actually moved it down a few millimeters. Either way that bracket has to be lined up perfectly.

The top part is just 2 screws holding on the bracket.

I just came back from the truck. Just to make sure, this is the bracket right? (Because it doesn’t move anywhere)

I just made a video about the lock from inside. This is what happens under the hood. It seems, the engine hood position is not correct.
I tried to upload this video, but it was too huge so it’s on the youtube. Can you suggest me something?

Mine sometimes doesnt seal. I will have to put a lil force into it when pushing down. Do you find it seals if you do that? May have to move bracket on hood up or down a few mili meters would try that. Gl

The bracket on the hood doesn’t move even a millimeter. The latch is in the top most position. I believe the engine hood is closing assymmetrically a bit. The bracket on the hood is a bit right to the latch when it’s closed.

check the hood hinge alignment or worn hinges unless the lock bracket is bent from a previous collision.

Sounds promising! Thanks! To align hood hinge just simply use the 3 nuts on that?
