Default Front diff bushings are unobtanium now I need some solutions

So I’ve got my truck on a lift doing motor mounts and an oil pan gasket. Had to drop the whole front diff.

now my problem is the driver upper mount/bushing that holds the diff in is completely destroyed. Like it doesn’t have any material left at all. Unfortunately no one seems to carry this anywhere. Not even rock auto. All anyone has is the big lower one. And I need this truck off the lift by end of day tomorrow (Sunday).

Options I have come up with and their issues:
1. Put it all back together and act like I didn’t see it and hope it doesn’t clunk too bad.

2.wrap the sleeve from the middle of the bushing in electrical tape to make a “bushing”. (This probably wont last very long or work well.)

3. Take the sleeve out and run the bolt down (I’m worried about vibration and possibly cracking the carrier)

unfortunately with any of these solutions I’ll end up having to drop it again because I don’t know how I’m gonna press the busing out with the limited available space when it’s together.

if anyone knows where i can get a bushing quickly or at all please let me know.

all other ideas for makeshift bushings are welcome.

should be the same as the 2500 bushings on the trucks of the same year.

I did a search for the diff bushings and a list comes up.

Gavin, are you talking about the one that is in the mount support cross member?

I would be willing to bet a good napa store could match you with an lower control arm bushing from a 70's auto, looks about the same size, you might have to do some tweaking on it or a salvage yard but one you get from them might be worse then what you already have.

I did find one on ebay but that's only if its the support cross member bushing:

https://www.suspension.com/universal-bushings.asp

something is better than nothing. maybe you can use the site as a cross reference then find something local.

Electrical tape tensile strength is around 30lbs NOT 3Tons!
Remove the bushings and install new bushings tight fit to the sleeves which performs better in a tight environment.

I did these recently in my '09: https://www.outfitterdesign.com/h2-f...shing-kit.html

Not sure I noticed a big difference between stock rubber and these.

Thanks everyone. I did the electrical tape trick. Used about half a roll around the sleeve and pressed it in with my impact and a long bolt. Just to get me home. I guess I’ll be pulling the whole thing again and doing it right later. But for now, with about a thousand miles of towing on it already, it doesn’t even clunk!

It is very weird that nothing crossreferences with the 2500 bushings on part store sites.

Order a "Control Arm Bushing" which are easily obtainable. The item is too little but it will slide in the hole where the correct bushing is suppose to go. Then tack it in once on each side of control arm bushing. This what I had to do just today. Unless there is another chassis out there that replicates the Hummer H2, it will be dang near impossible to locate. Don't know why GM quit making these bushings. Also, be dang careful about scam artist websites that say they have "kits" to replace bushings for around $550 and they are made out of some type of polymer material. It's a bunch of bull crap. jsIII
