Default Force EVAP test w/ Tech 2

If you want to get your rig to do the EVAP test, once you have completed all the other test passes and there is a X next to EVAP, this may help. I typically always keep my rig on FULL for gas- I believe the consensus is the tank needs to be between 1/2-1/4 for the Rig to perform the test, people have stated they it has taken months for their vehicles to do the EVAP test on its own- With a Tech 2 you CAN force it to test .... and as mine did PASS and get the green check mark on my basic OBD2 scan tool...You need to do this while vehicle is NOT warmed up & ambient temperature cannot be below 40 ish (may be off on that number but its somewhere around there)
Connect the Tech 2 like you usually do (if chinesium make sure you have a constant 12v w/ the switch harness) I am assuming if you have the Tech 2 you understand about the glitch with the chinesium version on start up of vehicle..
Next select your vehicle-
Select special options-
Select service bay -
EVAP-
Will ask you to turn off for 10 seconds (count 10 seconds turn on -NO START) hit enter
Will scan to make sure test is available-
Will ask you to set parking brake & start the vehicle keep engine between 1800-2000 rpm (do this at your own risk - I used a 2x4 between seat & pedal, moved the electric seat to achieve constant rpm range) you MUST get the vehicle rpm at that BEFORE you hit enter.
Will start the test & show EVAP test as active.
Takes about 5-8 minutes
Once that passes it will state NOT to turn off vehicle (remove whatever you used to sustain rpm if you didnt use your leg) take vehicle for a drive -
Hit enter-
It was at this point my Tech 2 glitched & turned off- I just left it disconnected from the OBD2 port- I had read its about 14km to drive or so many seconds? I never saw this screen but assume its what needs to happen.. so I went for about a 10 mile drive, got back home turned off vehicle & when I went for next drive later in the day I checked the status with my hand held cheap scan tool - It finally showed passed (Green check mark)
So= If you can add what happens when you go for drive - feel free to add it, This post is just to let others know about this feature with the Tech 2-
Good luck!!
