Hummer H2For those who like a little more gleam to their Hummer, the H2 offers a similar rugged look as the H1, but as a lower cost, and with more added features, making it almost a massive luxury SUV.
The OEM ones are LED and for virtually everyone they lasted at a bare minimum 10+ years so I'm not sure I'd say that some chinese ones are "WAY better" than the oem ones. I've never had a generic chinese automotive led light last more than a couple of years so far (name brand stuff has). If based on appearance, then that is just opinion. Not saying its a bad opinion or anything, just saying...
"Way better" because the cheap ones are 1/10th the cost? H2 closing in on 20yrs since start of production. My 3 doesn't use rear side markers, however if I had to choose a replacement light that I don't see when I drive, I'd take a chance and keep the savings banked.
Ah - I can look and see if I still have one. I've repaired them before. If I remember right the format of the diodes is a pretty standard square 4 pin 3mm dip package style that they use. You can carefully cut the back of the light open with a thin cutoff wheel on a rotary tool to get them open and then just silicone them back closed.
There must be quite a few defective ones out there.
BTW they may fail because the LEDs are being driven-hard (60ma), this is towards the top-end of their operating region, add high high ambient temperatures to that it could could stress the diode-junction.
