Problem resolved! Previously, when my battery kept dying, it was traced to the blower motor resistor. I had the blower motor resistor rebuilt. At the same time that I reinstalled the rebuilt blower motor resistor, I installed a new blower motor. Apparently the new blower motor I installed was crap. It says on it "Unimotor - Made in Canada." I think I got it from Amazon or eBay. Lesson learned trying to cheap out on parts! I bought the ACDelco OEM Blower Motor 15-80387 and now it's working perfectly. It does not come with the impeller so I had to take it off my old old original one and give it a thorough cleaning, then install it on the new blower motor, and add a new retaining clip.

 

That's great news and good diagnostics, would never have though of that...

 

Unfortunately this issue is still happening. Not sure why it was working at first with the new blower motor. Maybe it was a coincidence. I'll update this thread if I ever figure out how to fix this

 

It does sound like the HVAC is deliberately shutting off the FAN, however a quick test with a multimeter would tell you:-

• if it's HVAC turning off the FAN or
• the Blower Module isn't responding correctly or
• there is still an issue with the motor itself.
