everyday driver
kind of an odd question. so i have a pretty decent shape 07. got real cheap. am in for a total of $15,000
as of now, body and interior are in very good shape, frame was in ratty condition, not rusted, but rusty. I have been
sanding and painting the frame in small sections at a time.using POR 15. i did brand new bilstein shocks.new wheels and 37"
tires, full kryptonite front end rebuild, truck has 106,000 miles, previous owner did an i assume stock tranny rebuild and all new
stainless brake lines, I did brand new rotors and calipers and pads, replaced both side view mirrors, want to use more often, not
necessarily a daily driver (im retired) but more than I use it now as a play truck. Truck runs great but amazing how gutless it is,
especially with the 37s, I will probably drop another 10K- 15K in it (has a pretty scratched up passenger side window) want electric
steps, want to do a cam and tune at least, would love to do a supercharger, because underneath is rusty probably would be surprised
how bad fuel pump lines and sending unit are etc...
question is I can find low mile examples on ebay some even with dealer installed supercharger for $35K or so
better to sell mine for maybe the 15K i have in it and spend 35K -$40K for something with under 50K miles
or keep what I got? ive nickel and dimed myself to death with muscle cars so many times that I could have bought a much better
car for less $$ than slowly building one myself of course Id love to do the diesel swap, theres another 40K i think
just curious what anyone thinks

maybe you should have the back pressure checked on your catalytic converters. you remove the front O2 sensors and hook up a 10 psi gauge there. if it reads anywhere near 2 psi especially at load / high rpm. your cats or exhaust are restricted or clogged.
that might be your "gutless" issue.

i actually did. the truck runs great, after all it is a 5000 lb plus square box lol this is my first LS vehicle, I posted last year about
how many lifted trucks ive owned that all had 350's and all were snappier to drive if that makes sense. i even owned a stepside with 3.73
gears and 44's that drove better. I dont think there anything wrong with the vehicle, not why I posted. its just whether I should buy a low
mileage mint condition H2 or continue to improve mine
thanks

truck is not rusty, just no one ever detailed frame, for such a good shape truck it stuck out, so thats why Ive been detailing it.
buying a mint condition one is not gonna stop the stupid **** a 18 year old vehicle has go wrong.
out today with the truck and the second time in 6 months the fan resistor pack failed, turn key off and fan stays running.
I have no leaks in truck, dont know why it failed again. these are the stupid things that make me not want it as a daily driver.
who ever heard of that happening in any other vehicle? not me? assuming its not unique to the H2 but to all gm trucks that years.

Buy one from the south that has never seen salt - The northeastern H2's get rust badly. You are much better buying a southern H2 with more miles & no rust..... Just keep it up for the winter because these H2's do not like any amount of salt. Trust me on this. I have had 4 H2's and own a house in NH as well as SC at that time - I would trailer from SC to NH before I bought the NH house and just that little bit of exposure started frame rust on one of my past H2's. I had a H3 for a fulltime driver when I lived fulltime in NH and that H3 after a few years had went from zero rust to a bunch. I am now in Louisiana & bought the one i have now (4th H2) and it will never see salt- still has the original frame stickers on it!!
you might need to replace the blower motor. it might be pulling more amps then what the blower module can handle. while you have the blower out. make sure the ac evaporator is not full of debris impeding air flow across the module.
