Default Coil to Air suspension conversion

I have owned and 05 SUT with rear coil and a 06 SUT with air and in my opinion the air even though it can be a pain in the *** gives a superior ride plus its nice to have the inflator.
Now onto the question, I am looking to purchase an 08 SUT that is fairly decked out but is missing the air suspension. I was thinking about switching the rear suspensions between the two H2's. The question is would it be possible do actually
do that. I am sure it would require moving all of the electrical connections over (hopefully they are in a separate electrical harness and not part of the main) plus I would need to have a gm dealer add the air suspension to the 08 and delete it from the 06
plus the mechanical issues. It just may not be financial or work wise worth it. Comments, questions?

the first hurdle i think the 06 compressor and modules would be different then what the 08 uses if it even was a matter of "swapping"

I just checked on the part numbers of the compressor for the 06 and the one for the 08 and they are different. Considering all the problems GM had with the earlier units they probably went with an upgraded version for the 08 and that would explain the different part number.

Another great idea crashed and burned, lol

you can probably go with stock bags but an aftermarket air system though. or add support bags to your existing springs that you fill externally with a compressor manually.

Agreed - if anything you might be able to do it with the air system from an 08/09 model but I doubt it would be doable with a system from an earlier model as they have a totally different electrical system. Adding factory stuff can be a challenge if done right with the factory harness and whatnot as different systems often share a harness which means either dissecting the new harness and taping it alongside the existing or replacing the entire harness section. A dealer would then have to request a custom calibration from GM which GM is generally not willing to do. Tech2 will only program what the factory says the VIN should have. Some "dealer" option stuff like fog lights on the full size trucks can be added but more involved systems require getting GM engineering involved to create a custom calibration.

Though I can get much of the 08/09 air suspension system the big hangups are the harnesses and connectors. I have a GM Tech 2 and MDI 2 tool but would need a subscription to access the ACDelco software database. And its is only a guess that I would able to program the ZM6 rpo code into the BCM.
I imagine I might be able to somewhat re-engineer the system to run stand alone with only the ride height monitors but thats gonna take some doing.

I am sure many would say this is a massive waste of time of effort and money. All my attempts to get a complete system from a junk yard was fruitless, they dont want to take the time or effort to surgically remove the total system from an 08/09, they just want to chop and run and grab what they can get for the compressor. Oh well...

I need to do a bit more research on this product: https://www.airliftcompany.com/produ...ntroller-i-ii/

Perhaps a combination of the original air bags used in the H2 Air system plus the use of this product with sensors on both the right and left wheels might work,

you might have to outfit it as a similar year escalade as they did not show hummer as a choice.
