Default Chipped Windsheild

Some guy Passed me on a gravel road and a tiny rock flew up and chipped the Upper Left Part of the Windsheild, what would be the best thing to do without replacing it?

So far SafeLite Said that they could fix it for $125 does that seem right?

Thanks to any replies

I'll post pics soon.

I had the same thing happen in about the same place three months ago. It left a pretty big gouge in the glass so I was not expecting an invisible repair. I used the Fix-A-Flat Fix-A-Windshield Repair Kit to repair it. This is the third or fourth time I have used the same kit (different vehicles).

If you have a clean "moon crater" chip you can expect the chip to disappear. If glass has been chipped out you will be left with a smooth foggy bit of glass the size of the missing glass. If this is the case it looks like the window has a tiny smudge and is easy to ignore of not in line with the driver's line of site.

The kit is $11 at Walmart. The instructions are very thorough. It is an easy fix. The thing I really like about this kit is the resin does not set up until you move your vehicle out into the sun to cure. This gives you plenty of chances for do-overs. You can keep sucking the air out of the chip until you are satisfied you have achieved the best result.

If I have my insurance repair my windshield I would lose my 25% refund on my auto (two) and homeowners insurance premiums. For that amount I can buy a new windshield and have a couple hundred bucks left over.

It's bought a Resin Repair Kit from AutoZone and I'll tell you how it goes.
