Hummer H2 For those who like a little more gleam to their Hummer, the H2 offers a similar rugged look as the H1, but as a lower cost, and with more added features, making it almost a massive luxury SUV.

hey all. new here...

VERY similar issue on my 05 h2.

was about 90 outside, when idle, getting maybe 69-72 out of vent, on max, windows closed etc. neighbor is mechanic and had the hvac system, pressures were seemingly good, we recovered and refilled it. (was at 1.6 to start, but low side showing higher pressure).

compressor looks to be working, did the clamp on the hose, and changed the orafice, there WERE metal shavings in it, temp dropped maybe 1-2 degrees after that. when high way speeds, would drop down to about 65.

he was thinking perhaps the accumulator, possibly the condenser.

was curious if anyone had the 'actual' fix, or if I need to essentially shotgun the system and go from there.

thanks in advance

What are the pressure readings? Btw, your mechanic should know that metal shavings only come from the compressor, most likely failing due to low on oil. The condenser(& evap core) only needs flushed internally, and external coil cleaning for proper air flow. The accumulator is to filter and remove moisture. Your inside temp readings are high, should drop min. 40° @the center vent, with ambient temp @ 90°.
Evacuate ac system, flush condenser & evaporator core, clean condenser and evaporator core coils, replace accumulator, vac/recharge system and don't forget to add pag 46 oil(1oz-8oz depends on amount removed).
If you don't get a min. 40° drop below ambient, replace compressor.

thanks for the info.. his thoughts, based off the readings he got, was the compressor was seemingly fine, but might have been replaced recently (had it about a week) and that the old one went out, explaining the shavings in the orifice. the accumulator and condenser are on the list of possibles. he has a flush gun, I might snag a compressor to, but he felt it was not likely. I still need to do a few tests on the fan clutch, to see if that might be bad, but was kind of lazy today, and it rained.

Can you post pressures and the conditions when taking them?
Possibly the temps of the evap coil inlet and outlet line.
