Hummer H2 For those who like a little more gleam to their Hummer, the H2 offers a similar rugged look as the H1, but as a lower cost, and with more added features, making it almost a massive luxury SUV.

Big rock took out my windshield!

Hey Chrmer3..

Just ordered a few of thos Amazon Dorman Clips. In the Video I posted the guy had a Tool that straightened out those clips. Went on Amazon and found every other kind of pop off tool for those plastic push in buttons. You got a source for the Pylers? Could not find it on Amazon. I was probably using the wrong name. What is the proper name of those clips? Thanks

I have had 2 installed, one on my 05 (which went perfectly without issues) Not so with the 06. The installer broke two of the plastic mounts one on the fake duct trim parts and one on the cowl itself. Mark is right on ordering the dorman clips, if they get bent when removing the cowl or duct then replace them. It's good insurance for the next time around. These clips are also used on the front chrome fascia.

Its true you can bend them back but they don't seem to work as well and getting them stuck because they malform become a greater possibility

Also my 06 had had a prior windshield and I think that prior installer had bent up the clips removing them then when they were re-installed they locked under the tab and there was no way to remove the parts without the tabs breaking, at least this was what I was told.

With the feedback from this group, this windshield replacement came off successful.

I ordered a couple packages of the clips reference to above. Removed everything except the glass, the guy showed up quite surprised half his job was already done. Saved him a bunch of his allotted time. We talked about failed installations.... City averages about one H2 a year, and so far none have leaked. So he really took his time. That was Saturday morning. Late Sunday afternoon I gave it the hose test, no leaks.
The final test will be this week. It's supposed to keep raining through Wednesday.

With the extra time he spent with the glass install itself, I told him to go ahead and take off and have lunch or whatever and I would finish reinstalling everything else. He threw in a pair of new windshield wipers to finish it off with.
It's worth noting the windshield had been replaced before. Three of the four clips were completely distorted. I went ahead and replaced all four.

did the install include the rubber top seal strip or did they reuse your old one.

I really hate replacing the windshield going into winter. It's like just asking for it. New windshields attract rocks anyway, right? LOL

Hopefully many years before doing again!! Glad replacement went drama free!! I cursed myself because I had a couple VERY small "pings" (literally like the size of a very small pea) and I was like "heck, I can just put a new windshield in, inexpensively".... The old line of "dont fix it if it aint broke" came back to haunt me.... 3 replacements within months.. lol. Hopefully the Hummer windshield Gods have had their fill for awhile.

$321 for a mobile windshield replacement is actually a very reasonable price, especially compared to the $1,400 you paid for your daughter’s Volvo. Safelite coming to your house makes it even more convenient.
