For safety reasons, the pcm needs to verify the transmission is in PARK, without that, you could take the key out of the ignition, depending on the grade you park on, it could roll into a building or end up in the middle of the street.

i mean i finally got it in park and the key out, just naming one of the symptoms to see if anyone has had the same issues. i guess I'll just replace the ignition switch, just wondering does the air ride suspension circuit go through the ignition switch? and abs? bc i havent heard about this situation with other faulty ignition switchs

Post an update after you replace the ignition switch.

Have you tried popping your coffee holders out of the Center console and taken a look at the neutral switch on the shift solenoid. The connector is fixed to the gear shifter and the harness moves with it. All my wires broke clean off the connector. I was stuck in park. Maybe your wires are hanging on by a strand. Just something to try.
