Hummer H2For those who like a little more gleam to their Hummer, the H2 offers a similar rugged look as the H1, but as a lower cost, and with more added features, making it almost a massive luxury SUV.
After perusing numerous threads and asking a few members some questions, I installed an Airaid intake tube on my H2. It seemed well thought out and even had a port for the existing filter minder. It installed easily and looks great.
My main objective was to simply “ clean up” the engine bay, as the original “air octopus” took up a lot of room. That factory unit may have been the result of some significant engineering, but to this retired nuclear engineer it seemed a great example of “A solution searching for a problem.”
Enjoying my Hummer and this forum. Lots of great info out there!

Looks nice... But I never would put one of those expensive Filter thangs on any car. The HP rating is at Hi RPM and for what those thing sell for is crazy money. There was some long article some where on the web where they tested those foam oiled filters Vs Paper. The paper came out the winner as the oil jobs work great new but over time clog up due to the oiled media holding dirt and slowing down the air flow.
I went thru that phase with my 502 in my 65 Vette, Had me one of them there K&N jobs. Worked well ... then came cleaning time and the thing was full of gack from the oil that it came with Anyway I went back to paper. I check it every now and then and the light shine thru, Nice and clean cept for some small particles of dirt that shack right out.
Now if you installed yours to clean up the looks of the engine compartment ...Here's to yah. It looks nice. Nothing wrong with trying new stuff. It's your rig.. Do what You want and F every body else who complains about it. Nice job
Nice - same as I did. Just the tube only. The rest of the stock air intake including the filter is already a top notch cold air intake. I also got a set of the Vortec max engine covers...
Thanks. The factory air cleaner box and filter seem great and I had no desire to change it. Just needed to get rid of that resonator/octopus thing between the MAF and throttle body.
I put the Airaid system on my 07 H2 a few years ago. Took it off after 1 week. That thing is so damn noisy/throaty, couldn't stand the noise. Nothing better than a factory set-up imo.
