Default Adding Factory Fog Lights

I have searched the forums and the Internet and have had no luck, I am hoping someone here has done what I want to do, so here is my problem.

Truck is a 2004 H2. It did NOT come with the factory Bosch fog lamps which mount on the brush guard.

I bought the brush guard and I bought the fog lamps and fabricated cloned factory light mount brackets. Everything mounts up fine, but...the wiring.

My question is, the fog lamps came with small plugs that have about a 8" lead. If the truck did NOT have factory lamps when it left the factory....IS THE FACTORY WIRING FOR THE LIGHTS IN THE TRUCK SOMEWHERE EVEN THOUGH IT WASN'T A FACTORY OPTION?

Also, my truck has a sunroof, does that mean there is a factory switch in my console where the sunroof switch is?

Any help is appreciated.

Bob

No on all counts.
You'll have to get a harness w/switch from some place like GM Parts House.
Once you get the harness, you'll have to drill a hole for the switch. My switch for the roof lights is in the little console in front of the sunroof, keeps it out of harms way.

Your sunroof switch is in the console in front of the sunroof

The switch can go anywhere....

IF you use the factory harness... then you can't use a brake controller.

The least effort and least headache would be for you to buy one of the many aftermarket wiring harnesses for a set of lights, or if you have any handyman in you, make your own harness.

Lightforce makes a good harness. $60 PIAA makes an ok one. $25

You don't need the headache of trying to find the factory stuff to have a safe, quality installation.

If you are anywhere within driving distance of my house I could make and and install one in the time we drank a couple beers.

Oh, but you can run a brake controller in addition to the lights---just not at the same time!
Mine are on a time share program---sometimes it's a crap shoot when I have roof lights and sometimes a crap shoot if I have trailer brakes!
I didn't say it was a smart solution!!

if I can't do it at the same time then it's pointless...

You're just more motivated than me. I can make it right and life would be good. But I put more time and effort into dealing with it as it is and unplugging re-plugging as needed. A couple years down the road when I do finally make it right, it's always one of those "why didn't I do that a long time ago" moments!

Could someone please post a picture of the factory Bosch lights on a brushgard? There are nos lights for sale on Ebay for $67 each but dont have mounting brackets. I hesitate spending $130 for a pair of lights that dont even come with hardware. And i dont know how they mount and need a harness.

I had 5 sets of mounting brackets made as a minimum order from a fabricator and I used some stainless steel hardware to bolt them up. Here is how mine are mounted. Big fail on the wiring though, haven't had a chance to do it yet.
