I forgot.. Remove your shifter handle. Also when the top section of the vent assembly comes lose ...the clock will have a connector on it that has to be removed...and your function switch's on the Left. I start on the bottom left of the surround.... This guy does it a different way. The service manual says to start where I do. Your choice....Take your time.

Or you can watch this guy... he has tons of videos up..

OH - and make sure that the brightness control for the dash was not accidentally turned down as it controls the navigation brightness. Turn this up and check the nav display.

I didn't even think to check the brightness control and got excited that maybe that was my issue, but no such luck. Thanks for the video and tips, very helpful Mark.

I've been doing a ton of work on my 2009 H2 (or the dealer has) - but I keep having battery issues. Have never replaced the alternator - looks like that is the right next step.

A new alternator finally solved my battery issues. The first one I bought was bad off the shelf, so it was really a head scratcher for me, but turns out, all I needed was a good working alternator.

It wasn't terribly difficult to change out the alternator, but the idea of having to change it again is frustrating.

Any thoughts or suggestions? Is something killing my alternators, or do you think the new alternator is bad off the shelf?
Could be as simple as battery terminal posts connections arnt charging the battery. Are they snug? Do they look old. Possibly stripped?
Same thing happened to me. I fixed the red side. Boom! No more battery problems.

I also have an 2009 H2.. A few years back my headlights were flickering. Turned out to be a Bad Alternator. Dealer replaced it under Warranty. As Spoiler Says the first thing to check is the Battery terminals. Also keep in mind that the computer now controls the charging system. No more voltage regulators. Also..it is very important when jump starting your rig that you put the Neg jumper connection on the engine block.

If you look closely around the driver side of the engine block you will see some raised letters in the block that say "GRN" or ground. That's where you connect the neg jumper cable. There is a sensor in the negative battery wire terminal that tells the computer the charge state of your battery. If you hook the jumper negative to the negative battery post you are telling the computer that the battery is fully charged. If it is low the computer won't charge it correctly.

This info comes You Tube....

Had the dealer replace the alternator this week - turns out it was original and they aren't designed to last 15 years. So far so good.
