2008 2009 Hummer H2 XM Stopped Working
I recently got an email from XM saying they activated a trial on my "new" H2. So, I decided to take advantage of it and use it for a few months. My 09 has a touchscreen navigation head unit so I pressed audio and there was no option for XM.
I fixed this by disconnecting the battery completely and tapping the positive and negative terminals together a couple of times. Started it back up and *boom* XM was an option again! This was a few hundred miles ago and it hasn't disappeared again yet! (Fingers crossed- haha!)
Side note - it appears the internal batteries have died on 3 of the 4 TPMS sensors so I have the solid "flat tire" light on my dash. This "fix" made the light disappear for around 100 miles. It was nice to see a clear dash for a little while.

Here are a couple things to take a look at...
1. Check if the connections to the XM unit are secure. It is located behind the glove box on the 08/09 models. The glovebox will open and is held in place by a small plastic clip. Press that up, and the glove box will flop down towards the floor. You will see the XM unit behind there. Unplug and reconnect the connections.
2. Check that the XM connection to the back of your navigation unit is secure. This is a lot more time consuming. You need to actually pull the bezel off and pop out the navigation unit. Unplug and replug the XM connection which is right beside the antenna - it is blue.
3. Confirm that service is available where you park the vehicle. If the XM signal is lost in your garage... it can take the unit up to an hour to reconnect once you get to a good signal. It is possible that you lose signal when you park. Try leaving It parked outside with a clear view of the sky, and see if you still have issues. If you get Channel 0, then you have signal. If you don't get Channel 0... then you don't have signal.
4. IF all that proves to not work, then it is the roof antenna. This is notorious for going out when water gets through the seal and corrodes the connection. You may need to pop that antenna off, replace the seal, and clean the connections. If the connections are corroded, then a replacement would be required. The fastest way to confirm it is the antenna is to plug in an after market antenna to confirm you can consistently get signal.. and then work to repair the existing.
5. If you check all that and still have intermittent XM... then it is either the XM unit or Navigation system that is having problems. I would say they are much less likely to be intermittent... they typically work or don't!
