I've been told the compressor can be removed from underneath and no need to remove the radiator hoses, however on my 05 I simply just couldn't get it out, perhaps I missed a trick.

According to Mitchell / GM it does not require the removal of coolant hoses nor water pump

jhall there was no cooling it was always blowing air just above ambient, the high-side low-side pressures were the same. I tried re-gassing but to no avail, pressures remained the same and of course no cooling.

The compressor clutch/belt started to smoke so I had to turn-off the A/C.

It turned out the clutch mechanism was shot, think the compressor must have had seized at one point probably from debris in the system.

No one here in the UK wanted to touch a Hummer so I was forced do job myself, my biggest mistake was buying cheap spares, particularly the condenser which leaked.

i can verify that Hummerz directions are spot on....took the fan shroud off and compressor comes right out without issue!!!
