Default 2004 H2 door weather stripping HELP floors soaked

oh my gosh our H2 is getting ruined, the floor boards keep getting sopped with rain water, i have been in it while its raining and water drips thru the onstar unit by the rear view mirror, runs down to the console and stereo, the other night i was driving in the rain and the 'OH JESUS'' grab bar that helps pull us up in the seat, rain was pouring thru it, i have changed the roof lights gaskets, but both front doors the weather stripping piece that is long like a L shape that runs down side of windshield all the way to back door has sorta shrunk, the the weather stripping piece that actually goes on the body where the door meets up, its really pulled away and wont stay on track up above the grab bar thats dripping, and the weather strip piece thats actually on the door looks like its smushed and has had better days, but the carpets getting soaked, like puddles in them out of no where?, now the blend doors are messed up and the a/c only come thru the defroster, could something from a/c be clogged or draining in to floor boards, only where your feet set, theres more problems but with all this babble, have any of you had to replace these 3 door trim pieces and if so where can i buy? the ones i am finding will cost a fortune, and even thou it needs them, they still may not be the whole problem, the other night i put a tarp over the whole front cab, windshield and front doors and floors got soaked, dang man,,,,,,,PLEASE HELP,lining on roof in ruined now, fabric is hanging,,,

Default H2 roof leaks

I had the same problem. On my H2 SUT it turned out to be two of the front roof marker lights. I've also heard that leaks can originate from a plugged cowl and the sunroof drain (mine didn't have those problems). Best, Dan

did replacing the marker light gaskets stop your leaks the first time? sometimes the gaskets shrink a bit just enough not to keep sealing pressure and they wobble a bit on the road then the dirt gets under and water gets back into the console switches.

Default It’s the weather stripping!!!!!

i gotta laugh at this one because no one, i said “no one” that i have found, and i kept looking because their suggestions never fixed the problem. I guess they just replaced the light seals and un clogged their sunroof drain tubes and didn’t ever check to see if it was actually NOT LEAKING anymore.
Well i did and found out the above doesn’t fix it. Open your brain and your eye’s and find the real culprit. Well here it is: it’s the weather stripping !!!!! Starting with the piece at the very top above the doors, next is the door seal that gets applied to the door jamb, it pushes on to the pinch weld seam 360 degrees around the door.

It is also the weather stripping that runs up the A pillar and across the top of both doors, it installs by pushing it up on to the loooong black plastic decorative roof trim piece that runs the length of the roof on both sides. You can replace it for about $150 each side, or do what i did-remove it completely and clean the **** out of the mounting groove with whatever, then wipe it out with isopropyl alcohol and do the same from under the black plastic trim piece where it attaches to. Make sure all mounting surfaces are free of debris, dirt, grease oil, water whatever. Buy some new weather stripping adhesive in a squeeze tube and apply a continuous bead inside the groove where it will contact the plastic edge. Make sure that you orient it correctly and push it on tightly so that the adhesive contacts evenly. Pay special attention to the curved part at the top of the A pillar, you want it to be tightly adhered, it wants to shrink and pull away from the corner allowing water to get in. I held it in place by hand for a bit and then tried duct tape and closing the door on it, worked great. Next what i did is get a tube of Black RTV and filled the outer groove opening from above of that weatherstripping to keep water from even getting down into it.
I also replaced the main weatherstripping that circles the opening completely, mounting on the pinch seam. The tubing part of that old weatherstripping looses its springy shape and doesn’t seal as well. You can, as i first did, fill that round 3/8” tube with slightly smaller foam backer rod, it’s a PIA to get it all the way thru the existing length, but it can be done. I did it but replaced it all with brand new weatherstripping since mine was worn thru in a couple places. The third piece of weatherstripping i left alone.
The main problem with the original weatherstripping is that the “groove” that gets pushed onto the pinch seam, looses its holding/squeezing power and the water gets under and into the groove and leaks out/into the vehicle as it follows the path of the weatherstrippings groove ,down the a pillar and around to the inside side of the groove, then drips out, on the inside of the vehicle. If i can find my pictures of this process i will post them later, or tomorrow.
Oh, PS be careful purchasing the weatherstripping, they all say it matches but it doesn’t. Profiles are different. The one i ended up using, the inner lip is about 3/8” shorter than the OEM original, it doesn’t hold up the headliner as well.
I’m hoping i covered it all here.
