Default '08 H2 Cowling rattle

I just purchased an H2 and I noticed at highspeeds that the cowling (I think that's what you call it) rattles so loudly. It is the plastic trim that has the air intake vents and the wipers attached through it. When I tap on it I can hear the rattle but I can't figure out any way to tighten the trim or stop the rattle. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

the dealer fix was to remove it and tape it down with 3M double sided trim tape. the handles hold it down with nuts on the bottom side but be careful because they rust and break the inside of the plastic handles.

MOVED to the H2 section, where all H2 questions go.

I hate that when my nuts rust and break.

It could also be the plastic trim around the windshield, this was my issue. They are held in with two screws behind the door, and double sided tape around the glass, and that tape dried out and caused the trim to rattle at speeds over 40 mph. I would tap on those as well and see if those are possibly loose.

For the cowl, i would removed it clean it and underneath, and then get some felt tape and put it all along the edge where it meets the glas, and then put some strips around the surface that mount to the body. This should help quite the rattle some. Also check that the two holes in the front of the cowl, that sit underneath the hood, have some type of fastner on it, be it a screw that fits, or a body molding clip, mine didnt have anything so i found some screws that fit in there and that calm the rattle down even more.

Also just a little note for when you take the cowl off, you will see a plastic cover on the passenger side that sits right over the blower fan, the molding around that is a rubber and dry rots pretty quickly, i would just check it and if its got cracks or anything you can remove the piece clean off all the old rubber crap and use a tape like flex seal all the way around the edges to put it back in place. This will help with water, leaves and any other debri from getting into the blower system/interior of the vehicle.

I've had a cowl rattle, only to find out that a clip support was broken on it. I'm assuming when the windshield was replaced, they broke the cowl in the process. I epoxied it back in to place and the rattle was gone. Before you remove yours, you should slip gum, poster board, etc, under different areas of the cowl and see exactly where the rattle begins and ends. It could be that it's just rubbing up on the body and can be remedied with a piece of 3m foam tape. If you can't find it that way, remove it and look for broken clip mounts, or missing clips.

The clips on the bottom of the cowl are notorious for breaking. You'll probably need lots of epoxy and new clips. When I bought my H2 I also had missing bolts on my cowl so check for that too.

Inspect and repair properly!
If you can't, duct tape has the ability to fix many things, according to my wife.
