HUMMER H1 buying tips and forethought
Hey all,
New around here and saving up for an H1 someday. Wanting to know if anybody has some tips, tricks, advice and such for considering, purchasing, owning, and powertrain swapping an H1.
Its going to take quite a few years, in the meantime I want to gain as much knowledge as possible from you guys who "been there, done that" with these rigs on what to look for, particularly the wagon, what one should consider doing/checking right off the bat, as well as with swapping the engine and tranny (current ex. Cummins 12/24v x Allison 1000 6spd).
I know you guys know stuff so I would greatly appreciate the info, even if you run across this post 5 years from today, I think it'll be a great starting point for others looking to do the same as well.
Blessings, friends

This has been asked a lot. Try the search function. I know I have answered this question before. A/C sucks before 98. Potential engine block issues in the 96-2000 6.5 T diesel engines. Deferred maintenance issues. ( ask to see maintenance records/receipts ) Many trucks are sold when they need work and the existing Owner doesn't want to put the money in. Mechanical parts are much easier to come by than interior parts. Gas engine trucks do not bring as much as diesels. Non-CTIS trucks do not bring as much as trucks that have it. Wagons and HMC4 body styles bring more than open tops and two doors. Slantbacks are the holy grail. Only 39 made in 2000. Older trucks ( 92-95 ) are cheaper than later trucks and might be a better deal for a future conversion. There is more. Search is your friend.
