Cummins 4bt in an H1?
I'm hoping to get a Hummer H1 within the next year and I would want to put a 4BT or maybe a 6BT in it. So I had a few questions:
1. Does Predator sell all necessary parts for the conversion? (predatorinc.com/shop/cummins-conversion-kit)
2. Do the Predator parts work with the 4BT?
3. Would upgrading to an Allison 1000 5 or 6 speed provide any performance improvement over the 4l80 with the 4BT?
4. Will this tuner work with a Hummer H1? ( )
Thanks for any help, it is greatly appreciated!

Predator used to do these conversions, but they do not seem to offer it any longer as they told me no when I called them to get an estimate. That said, they may be willing to help you locate parts for your own build, you'd have to call them to find out. However, Plan B still does a 4BT conversion. I called and spoke with them about doing mine. One thing about the 4BT is you do not then need to upgrade all of the other drive train components. You can still use the original Transmission, axels etc. If you're going to do it yourself (which it sounds like you're going to) I'd give Plan B a call and see about getting the components you're looking for from them. If you want them to do the conversion for you, it's a long wait, I was told it would be a 8 months to a year before they could get to mine, and I'd have to send it in and let them keep it during that time, which I didn't want to do. As far as the trans goes, I think I would go with an Alison just for peace of mind, smoother shifting and better performance as well as reliability. Hope this helps.
I'm going to add a 4BT to mine, so we are on the same path here, and it's looking like if I want one I'll have to do it myself. There are other people who have done this on their own and say it's a pretty simple engine to swap in.

The 4Bt conversion used to be very popular. Much easier than the Duramax conversion and much cheaper. The Cummins is an old school, loud, smelly diesel and the Duramax is quiet but requires a lot more changes to the truck and the electronics are not nearly as easy to make work properly.
