Hummer H1 The original Hummer, which brought the Hummer look to the public eye during Desert Storm, with the addition of some features that make the H1 more of a street vehicle and less of a Army truck

Default Am I stupid or should I pull the trigger.

Hello,
I have a 1989 M998 3speed 6.2NA and have NEVER had any major issues, just routine maintenance, NEVER been left on the side of the road, it just keeps going and going, I think they are impossible to kill. SO, I am considering selling it and getting and H1, looking at a few from from early years through like late 90's models. Definitely want the 6.5 turbo I think and looking to spend 40k or less. My question is am I crazy to get an H1? Do you just get a good or a bad, will I experience plagues of electrical issues? Scared to death to make the jump but want to soooo bad. I have test driven some and the sound/insulation difference alone is worth it to me, and definitely my wife. I know to check block and VIN to make sure and bypass the #8 cylinder issue, and this will not be an everyday truck, but I will "Hurt" myself like Johnny Cash if I sell my workhorse and end up with a Lemon.

Not sure yet on that one. Dont want to sell until I find what I am looking for. I have a few in mind and especially with H1's there are many for sale that have been that way for a long time, started at 69k, now down to 49k and so on. Seems opposite for the HMMWVs.

I've seen clean low milers H1's, for around $50k. H1@$40k expect high mileage and or issues. What's the mileage on your M998?

26,500 Miles. Garage kept, no off roading, no rain unless caught in it on small trips, that was once. Second owner but the previous kept it basically the same way. If I spend much more than 40k then hard to justify for me to just drive under the above circumstances. 40k or less is my budget for a leave in the garage drive on sunny days fun vehicle.

Yeah I thought about the swap and that's a possibility but that does not get me the H1 interior and creature comforts.
